RIDING INSTRUCTION

If you want to get a better connection with your dressage horse and perform better in the ring, good riding instruction is the key to success.

When it comes to riding instruction, Van den Heuvel Dressage focuses on the motivated rider at every level. Both owner Roy as well as rider Bianca are ready to get the best out of you and your horse. You may currently have the following questions:

  • From what level is it possible to receive riding instruction?
  • What is the frequency and the rate of the lessons?
  • Where do the lessons take place?

Motivation

Ask any instructor what quality a student should have to learn to ride well and the answer will most often be: motivation. We totally believe in this. We support the motivated rider in the lessons to come out of the comfort zone and work hard to become a better team with his or her horse.

Frequency

From our experience, we’ve learned that when lessons are taken on a regular basis, this ensures the most progression. During the lessons we will work on the basics and various exercises at your level. We will also focus on any obstacles you encounter while riding your horse.

Of course, we are happy to determine the right frequency of lessons together with you.

Location

Initially, the lessons will take place at our facilities in Berlicum. Here we’ve got a beautiful outdoor arena and a newly renovated indoor arena with mirrors, which are perfect to learn to ride better. If desired, instructor Bianca Koenen can also teach at your own location. This should be within a 30-minute drive from Berlicum.

Roy van den Heuvel

Training horses up to Grand Prix level is what Roy likes to do the most. He is specialized in finding out what the true potential is in a horse and how to make optimal use of it. This way, he has produced various horses from L-level to Small Tour over the past ten years. He also makes time to share his knowledge of dressage to others. He is effective in teaching the exercises and clearly indicates in the lessons when the horse is ready for something new.

Bianca Koenen

Bianca is a very motivating instructor. If her student goes for it, she will as well. It is not uncommon for her to accompany her students also at competitions. She has a good theoretical background and knows how to clearly explain this to her students. Bianca has years of experience with preparing dressage horses for the higher levels and has ridden up to Small Tour level herself. Her focus is on the basics, the tempo and the given aids.

Charlotta Kiki Rogerson

“Back in 2018, Roy showed me the talented mare Famora (by Blue Hors Zack) and I fell in love immediately. She stayed with Roy for two more months, so I could try her out a few more times. She has a great character and was well-ridden. Now, we have qualified for the U25 at the European Youth Championships!””
